We know, it’s easy and tempting to book that “cheap” vacation you find on one of many websites out there, so why would you bother using a travel agent? For many reasons! We’ve debunked some of the myths that still seem to exist surrounding our profession and services.

Myth 1: Travel Advisors are expensive to use

Wrong! Did you know that commissions are built into the trip prices that you see online? If you book it directly with a supplier, they keep that commission. If you book it with a travel advisor, we get the commission. It’s a payment for a service, one that is invaluable especially during these rocky times. Travel advisors provide value that you can’t access yourself like group rates, credits at resorts and on cruise ships, upgrades and more. If you see that a resort or cruise is sold out, it’s very likely that we have access to inventory that the general public does not.

Some travel advisors will charge fees for certain things (we do, too, our time is valuable!), but generally the service doesn’t cost you any extra.

Myth 2: Travel Agents and Travel Advisors are the same thing

Untrue! Travel advisors are knowledgeable professionals who provide trusted advice about how and where you spend your hard-earned vacation dollars. Travel agents carry out transactions to make your booking, but travel advisors will get to know you, your plans, your likes and dislikes, your budget and all those little preferences that make your vacation perfect for you.

Myth 3: We're focused on commission, we don't care about you

Wrong, again! We want you to have the best possible trip. We take our jobs seriously, not to mention our reputation is on the line if you get sub-par service or your vacation is not what you wanted. We take pride in getting to know you and your travel preferences. We love what we do, and we want you to love your vacation!

Myth 4: Travel Advisors don't do anything other than book your trip

So, so wrong! We have a large network of resources to help make sure you get the best value and best experience you are looking for! Booking with a travel advisor means you have a real person to ask any and all questions to whenever they pop up (and trust us, they DO pop up!). You don’t have to wait on hold for hours if you need to contact the supplier – we do it! Travel advisors also keep an eye on all the details of your trip including excursions, price changes, flight changes, etc. so you don’t miss anything.  During these crazy Covid-19 times, we keep on top of the ever-changing travel requirements and notify you of any changes between the time you book and the time you travel.

Myth 5: Nobody actually uses Travel Advisors

Trust us. We’re busy. Very, very busy. People ARE using travel advisors. They are putting their trust in professionals like us who make it our business to get to know you, understand the best value for your money and the ever-changing travel landscape.
